Learn why Dino Bars are one of our very favorite toddler snacks, tips on how to serve them, and a promo code to make it more affordable to try a box.
We’ve had Dino Bars in our house for a few years now, and were lucky enough to be able to try the brand right when it launched. I love that it’s owned and run by a sweet family, and that they personally tend to all of the details from flavor development to working on shipping challenges.
We love these toddler snack bars as a preschool snack, to pack in a kid’s lunchbox, and to send to daycare.
The ingredients are really straightforward and the bar is very soft, which makes it easy to chew—even for 1-year-olds. The fruit flavors are delicious—I’ve tried them all myself—and taste like real fruit.
The texture is sort of like a soft, thick fruit leather, but the bar is much less sticky. It’s lined with edible paper, which is the white that you see on the outside of the bar. You don’t have to remove that from the bar before serving, as it’s totally safe for the kids to bite and eat.
I love making homemade snacks and usually make at least one to share with my kids each week, but having a stash of favorite store-bought ones on hand just makes life so much easier.
Dino Bars Review
I love these bars for their nutrition—they’re a nice mix of nutrients and aren’t overly sweet, with just 1 gram of added sugar—and because they’re such an easy snack to take on the go.
They’re made with:
- Fruit: Current flavors include Mango, Pear, Banana; Strawberry, Pear, Banana; Blueberry, Pear, Banana; and Purple Sweet Potato (which is sometimes a limited edition that goes in and out of stock).
- Coconut oil
- Hemp seeds
- Edible paper
One-Year-Old Snack Idea
It can be a challenge to come up with snack ideas for younger toddlers, as many in that age range are still learning how to chew a wider range of textures. We started offering these bars around age 16 months and broke them into smaller pieces to ensure they were easy to chew.
For my son, who was a little slow to get into solids, this was a perfect time to start trying out these bars. We regularly packed them to take to the playground, on walks, and as an easy travel snack.
You can serve this kids snack bar on its own or paired with a food from another food group to make the snack a little more substantial. Here are some of our favorite foods to serve alongside a Dino Bar.
- A small cup of milk
- Fruit (such as matchstick apple slices or a banana)
- Drinkable yogurt
- Cheese stick
They’re a nice lunch snack option, too.
